According to the president of the United States, speaking about the US lead invasion of Iraq, "...success is a level of violence where the people feel comfortable about living their daily lives. And that's what we're trying to achieve."
Once people are used to a certain level of violence, success has been acheived?

Sometimes we despair, but not quietly. But no, violence isn't any sort of solution. Don't know if you've been lurking my Eye thread, but i'm in emotional recovery from a passing guest, who amongst his other "gems" pronounced:
"Wanton vandalism is ; it shows teenage boy hormones have kicked in"
"I had a great, middle class upbringing, so i got to be able to go out & wreck society with no worries"
"You're too attached to that cat, it's just a f'kin animal for gawd's sake!"
"I hate society, i detest the State, no way am i gonna be part of "The System"
Now, all that lot would be pretty well normal for a teenager; but coming from a 47 year old guy, who hasn't even got it together to make sure he got paid before trotting off around France "I wanna buy a barn in the middle of nowhere for $10,000 & sit & watch the stars" strikes me as a person in fantasy land. They have safety nets: parents, The State, immunity from prosecution...."Waaah, it's not My Fault!"
As seems the case with the Bushbaby.
I don't know, do we despair or congratulate ourselves on being, by comparison, apparently the sanest people around? This guy arrived & said "Wow: just look at this place, who designed it?"
Er, well; me actually.
Bah. Sod the idiots. Can you confirm your snailmail address by zendevil email so i can send you a Seasons Bleatings thung...plus your favourite 3 colours if you can narrow it down please?

You're talking about a president who, with all conviction, can say, "We don't torture" because he REDEFINED "torture"!... A president of the United States, a country that traditionally had no tolerance for torture, (at least not overt torture).
Nothing surprises me about that man. I hated him as my governor, I hate him as my president. I will hate him all his days.

I doubt very much that he will give a damn, but it might make you feel better to have a distinct focus for the hate!

Terri,
Snail mail addy has been emailed. It's just a touch different from the one you had, since I moved South exactly one building to get a bigger apartment after I got married. If we're the sanest ones around, the world is in deep trouble.
Count Zero,
Whould it be safe to assume that you not a big Huckabee fan either?

Nope, I'm not a fan of any candidate who doesn't understand why we have a secular government to begin with.
Key: Complain about this post
