Wow.
http://www.angelfire.com/extreme4/kiddofspeed/ offers a photographic "tour," with commentary, of the "dead zone" surrounding Chernobyl.
There are over thirty pages, at three photos per page, so it can take a while go go through the entire "tour."
I think it's worth it.

They did a PBS special tour on that area.
If I had broadband I would follow the link
I am sure it is worthwhile, good thing to post

This site is a bit more of a personal perspective. It's done by a young Russian woman who likes to take her motorcycle to the "dead zone" because she can throw the throttle wide open with no danger of running across police officers, pedestrians, other drivers and so on.
And yes, she takes her radiation detector with her and keeps it relatively safe. Her father is a physicist.

Wow. Thanks for that link D-sys! I took the whole tour. I think this girl is taking a pretty huge risk! But it's interesting, all right. Definitely like the 'Last Days of Pompei'. What a disaster. I recommend others to also take a peek at the site!
Anyways D-sys it's great to hear from yous again!
