I've finally gained real acceptance as an h2g2 researcher!
That's right. I've had my first guide entry hidden by the moderators.
Seems my eleven word, credited quotation just went too far.
I've revised the entry, of course, but that doesn't change the feeling that I am now truly a part of the community.

Congratulations!
What would censorship be if it wasn't inconsistent and arbitrary? I made it a point to learn the copyright laws pertaining to h2g2 as soon as the "moderators" took office, so I could keep out of trouble. It doesn't mean I don't get censored... just that I can make the case for getting my stuff restored to me when it gets hidden.
Being aware of the censors and leaving them notes about the origins of your quoted material is a good way to keep your stuff from being censored. I had a couple of lines quoted from a 1000 word article in the LA Times removed. I wouldn't expect the censors to know that the article was that long, so my use of an insignificant portion of it is "fair use." Once I notified them, it was returned to me.
Sometimes I think it would be easier if we just didn't bother to quote sources... they really don't have any way to know it didn't come from us...
