Don't have them on account of the .
Better point out here I am not a royalist, monachist whatever but hey I like collective celebration, aside from signing the national anthum I'm happy to throw myself into something. We made a George cross out a pillowcase, came in very handy at somepoint to remove the grill from the bbq. The kids made bunting and the general idea was everyone byo bbq stuff and fizzy pop.
I think I was gagging for a party, well anything actually that didn't involve sitting around my front room, my kid has been ill for about 5 or 6 days and she was well up for getting out and about, freedom again! I over cooked it with the bubbles I think cos I feel rotton now and felt unsteady at the time, no food I think for ,well, can't remember and certainly don't feel like it now.
I can't really say in the event it ws really a party, more of a getting quite p****d late afternoon/early evening and I met two families that didn't know by name and that was about it. I was disappointed, I think I still am. I don't know what it takes to get people in to the spirit of a day. If peeps want to boycott these celebrations cos of a political reason then that's fine, I can live with that but I can shove it aside for a day at least. Its the non participation because oh can't be bothered.
It grates. Well in fact it does more than that, it depresses me. We come up against all the time, expected part of the job if you are doing community work but if peeps can't come out for a drink with their neighbours then I find myself losing heart somewhere along the line. So if was meant to be bonding then it wasn't, just woken up with a and feeling less like I belong anywhere than I did yesterday morning.
In fact I feel like moving.
