Hey there, Peanut ... pleasure to make your aquaintance.
I'm Ekki and I'm an ACE (Assistant Community Editor), one whose job it is to come around meeting and greeting newbies like yourself, and show them the ropes, manacles, handcuffs ... 
... sorry, got a bit carried away.
No, I'm here to help you through your first days as a researcher, and indeed to provide you with inspiration, motivation, perspiration and inebriation should you so require it. To point you in the right direction and hold your hand should you require it.
A good start point would be to whizz something down in your personal space. Without anything there, people can't contact you, except via conversations (that's how I got here). Anything'll do, even if it says, "can't think of anything at the moment" that would be fine.
The welcome page (http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/welcome) is a fine place to draw some/any advice from, but if you do need a hand, just reply to this and I will come bounding with the youthful exuberance of a labrador puppy, although I promise not to chew your shoes.
