Jack, not ass

This is the start of what I hope will be a continuing chronicle of my journey through life. I’ve decided that it can’t hurt (and it could possibly help) to have a written chronicle of my thoughts and feelings (what’s left of them) so that I can look it up a little down the road and see if I have really been progressing (effectively that is) through life. I’ve been somewhat of a slacker thus far in my life (everyone else I know calls it wasted potential) and from this day on I’m going to try my best to be the person that I think I can be and the person I think god expects me to be. To tell you the truth, I’m not really sure what that is but…I have this feeling that if I want to know badly enough and if I try hard enough, then one day (maybe) I’ll know exactly what it is. I’m making a vow of optimism and objectivity. From this point on I’m going to be as optimistic and as objective as I possibly can. I’ll tell you the truth…I don’t think that my life has been a waste (at least not entirely…<wink&gtsmiley - winkeye but I probably could have got on the ball a little earlier in my existence. What can I say…I never really wanted to be or do anything (besides read, play video games, sleep, and some choice designer pharmaceuticals). The latter has taken up a lot of my time and energy these last ten years and I have decided that it is time to give some other pursuits a chance. Such as, school, girls, maybe taking on a little social responsibility…who knows, I may even like doing something else. If there is one thing I have learned in life it’s that there is way more out there to know then I could possibly imagine and that to shut myself off to a path or experience based solely on my current knowledge alone would be the greatest travesty I can think of. Now…that’s not to say that I don’t have strong convictions on a lot of different subjects. I’m only saying that you should always keep your mind open to new thought…brushing someone else’s beliefs aside solely because they are not your beliefs is wrong…take the time to analyze what they are saying and if, when you are through, you still find them to be a lot of irrational gibberish or, if you’ve heard what they have to say a million times before by a million different people then toss them aside with the clarity of mind that only true rational thought can give. Anyway, I’m not saying that I can’t still enjoy the occasional drug binge but…to be an effective druggie it takes up a lot of time and effort (not to mention money) and I have decided to put most of the time and effort required by the drug life into other pursuits. That said…I have no problem with drugs. Drugs aren’t the scourge that society makes them out to be. How can they be a scourge? They are inanimate…they have no will. The blame belongs solely on the individual. It is just a matter of people taking responsibility for their actions. I don’t have one problem with someone being a crack head if they can maintain a normal existence whilst in the midst of crack headom, or whatever you want to call it but, if you have a kid you can’t take care of because of it or you can’t keep from being a detriment to society because of it then take it upon yourself to refrain from that activity. Be it, smoking crack, eating, driving, whatever. Take some responsibility. That’s all I’m saying. NO MORE EXCUSES.
