Well, you can try searching for keywords to do with your favourite hobbies or subjects. There are dozens of subcommunities - give me a minute and I'll find the page where they are listed.
You can tag "info" after the "guide/" bit in the URL and find out which is the latest updated conversation.
You can play with the "Who's Online" "Talk" or "Read" buttons and see what comes up that tickles your fancy.
You can write an entry and see what people say about it. But I recommend reading a few first, and checking that the subject hasn't been covered before.
