h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Hey, you guys - you'll never guess what's going on over on the tributes pages at DouglasAdams.com.

It seems 'A' has never cared for the goings-on of 'B', and so let loose invective like a ton of bricks, tacitly encouraging others to BYOB (Bring Your Own Brick) and have at it as well. 'B' and friends have defended themselves with brickbats of their own, and chunks of the forum are now in flames. The pleas of (undoubtedly codependant) third-party peacekeepers have flown through the air like bricks don't. It's gotten awfully mean-spirited, and various suggestions t'wards resolution - including the banishment of 'B' (??? I thought slaughtering the innocent was how you founded religions, not got problems solved...???) - are going 'round and 'round like a washing machine spin cycle.

What saddens me most is the way the war has escalated into a discussion on the structure and goals of the forum itself. It reminds me of those teeny annoying behaviorisms someone you love starts off aggravating you a little bit in the morning with, and before you have any clue as to what just happened you're sceaming "Divorce!" and similar forms of total annihilation at each other and meaning it. (Not that that's ever happened to me - it's only something I've read of in books...)

Since it was through DouglasAdams.com that I lumbered into H2G2, it would pain me no end to see something as corrosive as this happen here. Let's keep our bricks in the air as best we can, ok? And try to make sure they hit something soft before they get all out of control and land on somebody's foot. Thank you for your time.
