Why am I even surprised?

Earlier this week I was happy. Now I'm not so happy. I'd probably describe myself as feeling somewhat disappointed and pi**ed off.
Then again, why am I even surprised?
Background: Last week I was told that I was getting a bonus from work , which was really good. And considering the bonus I got last year was about £190 I was pleasantly surprised to be informed that my bonus this year would be close to £490. That caused me to walk around this week, being generally happy about that fact.
This evening, though, I found something out that caused my mood to drop considerably. Most people at work didn't get a £490 bonus. They got a £1200 bonus!
Then again. As I've said already, I shouldn't be surprised. The bonus is something that's recommended by the manager of the department (with the help of the Team Leader) and the sent off to the HR department for the manager there to approve. And since this all stems from the TL and the manager I really shouldn't be surprised, considering how they've sh*fted me in the past.

Tell me about it. Of course, I haven't actually checked with that many people about this, since they keep telling us that our wages and bonuses and stuff are "Confidential", and I only got wind of this tonight, but out of three people I've asked, where two worked at another department, and one works in my own team, they all got the £1200 bonus.

Well, considering that most things I say or do at work either gets totally ignored, or I get told to mind my own business, while if one of my team-mates comes with the same suggestion it gets taken very seriously and implemented pretty much straight away, I'm not that surprised that they'd take this opportunity to shaft me again.
It's not as it's not happened before, like.

Sounds like they were right. Ignorance is bliss
A maxim from Dilbert springs to mind here. It involves salmon...

Hmm, they are very big on not talking about salaries aren't they. Tis for this very reason that I don't talk about them at work, a total fear that I will discover I am being diddled. Still, at least you got something, there are worst things they can do these days.
