I've noticed that I've been rather negative about Calgary. So here's some positive aspects of Cowtown.
Food. If there's an ethnic food you're craving, Calgary is the place to be. Japanese to African. British to Chinese. Calgary has absolutely every kind of food possible. I kid you not.
People. As the food is multicultural it only makes sense that the people who cook it are. Sitting downtown one can eavesdrop on every language in the world. You don't have to travel if you want to know what it's like to live somewhere else. The stories told would take a life time to listen to.
The mountains. Sure they're about an hour and a half away, but you can see them clearly from about everywhere here. Once you've experienced the mighty Rockies you'll forever be changed. I've only had a similar experience the first time I saw the ocean. Just watch out for them grizzlies.
The sky. If you ever felt claustrophobic or just needed to see the big blue sky then Alberta is it. Okay there is Saskatchewan, but I'm hyping Calgary not Moose Jaw. So all the sky, all the time. Bring your sun screen and an umbrella. The weather can change on a dime. Which is not a negative thing, just a truth. Ask anyone who's been here for longer then a week.
Which brings us to the weather. It's different. Not like in strange, but in different from one minute to the next. If you visit, even in the summer, bring a warm sweater, at least. It will be cold in the morning then hotter that all getout in the afternoon only to get cold again. In one day! But again being positive that means in the winter there are these fabulous warm days in the middle of January. I remember one year motorcycles were being ridden right through February. Really!!! Would I lie to you?
As in any society there are always negative aspects to any city. But for the most part Calgary is a great place.
Just don't ask why I don't live here.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
