Life, don't talk to me about life

Eight thirty in the morning and driving into work, and hating it. It isn't that it is a particularly stressful drive, it isn't that it is too early in the morning and other people are also doing silly things, it isn't the persistent gray wetness of the weather, nor is it even the fact that whilst not ill, I'm not bursting with health either. It is that I find myself driving through the centre of town at eight thirty in the morning through the rain, a distance that is a forty-five to fifty minute walk away from where I live with good bus routes.
I have reasons, but I'm not sure they are particularly good ones. Poverty is the one that grinds the most. I don't really need a car, I live in a capital city. I do however really need a van, I can't afford to change really. My car is too old to fetch much at second hand value, and in any case it would be good, I would feel happier to have a more environmentally efficient vehicle, and that will automatically cost more money. Shouldn't, but it will.
The city is cold and dark and wet. It isn't going to get light today, not really light. I need to earn more money. Two degrees later I find that my most saleable asset to employers is my ability to type.

Hey JEllen!
Not ignoring you, just, as ever, busy. This week has been one of those crazy ones where work is just as busy as my life outside. Still the end of the rennovation job that Mr Dragon and I have spent all our spare time on this year is in sight. Let's just hope that is before Christmas rather than after. Then we can just worry about getting tennants in before we both succumb to bankruptcy.
Hope things are well, and less busy, with you. Been less talk on the movie thread recently seen anything good? I went to see The Corporation at the cinema recently and it was enough to give me nightmares, a lot of the ground covered I knew already, but there were little (and some large) details that were new and stick in the mind.
Also saw the House of Sand and Fog on video, which is also depressing although in a different way. Very good, just depressing because humans can be so infinitely fallible.
Did see Infernal Affairs again with Mr Dragon and one of our housemates. I was delighted when both of them really enjoyed it as well. If you like tense thrillers this is very much the job.

I haven't been tending to the movie thread like I should, it kind of gets lost now that it is down off my visible journal entries. I need to start a new one, but I want to wait for a really great movie to come along to kick it off.
I saw Finding Neverland, and thought Johnny Depp turned in a top notch performance, radically different from his Pirates role, but just as good. The little kids in it are good actors too, esp Peter. Oh, I should explain that the movie is about the author of Peter Pan. It is a 4 hankie movie though, be warned, both my sister and I were sniffling by the end.
I am excited about The Aviator, of course, being Leo's latest movie! Previews look very good. He plays Howard Hughes.
Previews also look good for Kinsey, about the man who wrote the infamous Kinsey report in the 50's. Stars Liam Neeson and Laura Linney.
Alexander is getting a roasting by the critics, LOL. I may have to go see it at the cheap theater just for fun. Can't imagine Collin Farrell as Alexander the Great! Guess this means that the version with Leo by Baz Luhrman will never get made.
