My close friend since 1968. I swear I am still getting lumps in my throat every day... over unlikely things that connect in some sub-conscious way.

i am sorry, george
it will happen off and on thru your life
more now of course
but later, just as poignantly
its when something happens that makes you feel close to him
which is comforting when you think of it that way

I'm encapsulating the hole in my life that was Ed Kluth by embracing the Mexican holiday, "Day of the Dead", for he and others. It also gives me permission to communicate with his children. Already one of those died, too. Kerfuffle is correct about it only increasing. Tomorrow, at work, I won't be there, a soon-to-retire workmate will be getting chemo for recurrent cancer after a decade's absense, and the boss is off at a medical appt. My being absent is to accompany my wife to a chemo treatment. I never appreciated that breast cancer is a one-year event if survival is in the cards (and for my wife, the docs have assured her that she will). Looks like it may be an April Fools or May Day celebration.
Its hard to reconcile this value of life with the seemingly sizeable part of humanity for which it has less than zero value.
Key: Complain about this post

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
