h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

The Muppetteer and I moved into our new house a little short of a year ago now. Very shortly after doing so we discovered that the previous owners had been absolutely lousy at DIY (although they hadn't let that discourage them!) and even worse at house work. I had to hoover the living room twice before I could bear to plonk any of our packing cases on it....

Anyway, we cleaned off the worst and got on with the more important things: stopping the sink leaking, getting the hot water back up and running, putting the bed back together etc etc. And then we saved up and ripped out the kitchen, since it was an environmental health hazard. We now have a shiny new kitchen. Yay!

But I digress. The reason I mention this is that its the traditional time for spring cleaning, and so I have declared war on 'THE ICK THE LAST PEOPLE LEFT BEHIND'. With this in mind I scrubbed the bathroom on Saturday morning. With an old toothbrush. Shed loads of ICK got washed down the drain. I gave up when the toothbrush started shedding its bristles in disgust, but it was a huge improvement. We're down to a couple of layers of ICK, rather than about 10 years worth.

So I get up this morning, have a bath in the shiny bath, clean my teeth in the shiny sink and then try and find something to wear - the usual Monday morning thing. And I come back upstairs to be greeted by the Muppetteer saying "Look, this shaving foam doesn't squirt properly" together with a demonstration of the foam shooting straight out over his hand and covering the bath.

Pah.


On the plus side, though, my new cookbook was delivered by Amazon this morning: "The Moro Cookbook", specially pre-ordered before its May release date. I haven't had a chance to have a good look yet, but the pics are good.
