I'm still feeling mortified. Our end of KS test results were good, but out of my top group, who can all write superbly, about six made a bad error of judgement on the writing paper. They did a playscript. Not something it's easy to show their skills in. As a result they got below average scores on their writing paper. This reflects on my teaching, of course, no matter how well they can really write and how well the rest of them did (the ones who chose wisely).
Good news too, though. The world music/latin band looks like getting sorted. J and I have the A list sorted - music we can play next week if need be (given the other musicians) and the B and C list too. Also, Barbara Thompson has given me permission to do her portrait - something to get going on this summer. That will make two in the series! My design for a CD cover got used for the county music CD - good fun. Playing djembe tomorrow at Bedworth Civic Centre. Daughter got level 8 for her English KS3 tests. Should boost her confidence a little. Saw some of my compatriots tonight; a visiting dance/acapella group from Bulawayo. They were knockout. Wish things could have been different and I could still be there.
