It's about as ready for the desktop as the QE bloody 2.
How many hours has this taken? Too many. That's how many.
O.K. It's probably not actually Linux's fault at all and more the fact that we put
the computer together from junk and that the floppy drive is distinctly unstable and
that the network card was playing hide and seek but that's not the point.
You can't really vent anger at an unbranded collection of parts resembling a PC so Linux
is going to have to take the blame.
The current problem is that it just won't boot. Which is probably lilo's fault. I hate lilo.

If it's any consolation, we went through exactly the same soul-destroying experience with that perfectly reliable Fujitsu machine that served so well as a test machine for Raumschiff Titanic.
