h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

As I have stated in my introduction I am starting over in my life. Don't worry, I'm not some balding obese guy who is having a mid-life crisis. No I'm a somewhat balding, but still retaining a reasonably sized midsection guy who is having a quarter life crisis. I've been out of college for three years now, and have really tried to fit the mold that everyone thinks I should fit into. When sudenly I realize. I want to live my own life, not have it lived for me. So I said to myself, I said "self, be what you want to be". Then I freaked out and and sat on the couch in my underware for a few days. Then I got better and thought,"now what?". Then I sat around in my underware for a while longer and tried to come up whith interesting occupations. I always thought it would be great to be one of those drivers in the little truck with a short wheelbase that inspects railroad tracks all day. Think about it. You don't even have to steer. You can eat, drink coffee whatever. But, how do you change the world driving on RR tracks all day, unless you run over a rabid 'possum that would have bitten the town drunk, who would have slept with the town prostitute, who would have had the child, that would have worked as a stock-boy at Food Lion until he got sick of it all and said, "I don't care if my mom is a whore and my dad is a drunk, all I know is I haven't eaten 'possum for six months and food Lion always smells like that pine scented funk left in the shrimp bin for too long." then, bought a cake in the deli with a plastic clown on it that said, "I quit", given it to his boss along with his polyester red tie and gone on to find the cure for cancer, or something like that? Unlikely, yes. Although I'd like to here a successful story of some well acomplished drivers of little trucks with a short wheelbase who have made a difference. I know they are out there, and I salute you. Really though this just got me on a tangent of other jobs that you know people have to do, but you never actually here of people doing it. Like, who designs cardboard stand-ups at movie theaters, along with the instructions on how to put them together, or who glues all those little rocks on the side of garbage cans at the park, or who invents new types of dog chew toys, and what about the people who put all the tiny reflectors in the road, and what credit do they get? Well, this entry was going to be about marriage and what I've learned so far in the whole month I've been married, but after reading over this first entry and seeing how much I like to talk about myself and wonder what I am going to do with it, I have come to the conclusion that THE WORLD DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND ME! Of course my wife has been telling me that all along, she's great and I love her, and yes I have a lot to learn and a long way to go.
