Ethics of Spell Casting

There are plenty who believe you can not influance the universe or affect the infinant IS. There are those who believe you can not impose your will on others by thought and ritual alone. I am not one of those.

But, I do believe that all of the energy you place in the universe is returned on you, so to take someone's free will by causing them to do something with a spell is not ethical or moral in my mind. Generaly those who practice Magick have rules that govern them "An it harm none do what thou wilt" is one of them... but there was a man named Alexander Crowley who favored himself "The beast of revolations" and he rewrote the law to his own liking to say "An it harm none, be it the whole of the law."

So, here I am, with a very tight belief in Karma and my friend comes to me and says she is going to cast a spell against her ex for "Justice"... Now I know this friend wants my support, she wants me to root her on, but I just can't do it. Think about it this way, even if it's not even possible for her to cast the spell, would it be right of me to encourage vindictive behavior in someone? No, that would be bad Karma for me.

But now, since I wouldn't tell her how much I agree with her that she should do this thing, she is mad at me and wont talk to me. She won't grasp that he will get his in time and she will get hers and I just can't condone vigilantism.

Strike one friend for the glory of ethics.
