Saint Patrick Patron Saint of Depression: Here to haunt your dreams and stalk your waking hours Started conversation Apr 7, 2001
Ok it approaches. We have been reminded about it since Christmas and that since August, when will they stop advertising these damn things so early? It boggles the mind. Plus some of you will end up buying chocholate eggs, despite the fact you get more for your money with just a simple bar. But I am not so foolish. Few of you out there will really know or care why we have this tradition, other than the fact it is tradition, good for you. The rest who know, why do you celebrate it the way you do? I can to a degree be seen to be impartial, as I know why it is celebrated and yet the reason you celebrate it the way you do is still beyond me. To quote Eddie Izzard "Jesus Died to give us Chocolate!!". A true enough point about the way that nowadays we celebrate events. No I am not preaching, infact I hate the idea of anyone suggesting that. It is in my opinion a pointless way to celebrate things. Like at Christmas, everyone has a meal, few care to remember why. Personally I believe it is not the religious part that matters, but that mankind can set aside its differences at least once, sometimes twice a year. But why so much bloody advertising?
