Why couldn't they try and be a little more cheerful the whole year round?

Well, I'm always happy to oblige in that respect

I dunno, maybe it will be better this year. I have spoken to some people about the possibilities of an alternative Xmas type do this year.

If you're talking New Year's Eve, then I said I'd work. Although I found out last week that it's on a Sunday, so now I don't know.

No, New Year's Eve is always an incredible bore.
None of the right people are about and it's always dull and tedious and you end up down The Castle like always 
.
Except last year which was a very rare exception.
No,it was mooted that the flat might be used as a bolt hole for those with relatives who couldn't stand them any longer, on Xmas day.
