h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I've found this whole h2g2 thing very interesting because it's drawn attention to my own culture.

British/English.....and really I wonder how much foreigners really get us.

*We* don't get us

I think we should stop being so bloody scared.

We're just like everyone else in the world..we're not special...okay yes just a bit.

NTM did a 'goodbye' thread and I posted about the end of Dr. Strangelove with Vera Lynn singing 'We'll meet again'. There's a few excellent versions on YouTube. This one will do.

I think we should be proud as a country to come up with something like this..

Noohootoo is going to be great...yes it has a British foundation...but we're on our own now with only Nighthoover to guide us..

It's about the very big and the very small all at the same time...and dealing with that.

This journal probably isn't making a lot of sense to some people. It makes complete sense to me.

And there's a complexity to that which is frightening. It's not just some simplistic schizophrenic type idea of opposites.

Really art is the only thing that comes close..and that can include sport, theatre, drama.

I'm talking about an expression of subjectivity that our culture usually likes to gag.

For some reason on h2g2 at present I feel able to come out with it.

(NB This is a journal...I'm sounding off about stuff that *feels* true. But sounding off like this here has given me a bit of an appetite. I've not eaten properly in a while...I'm off for cheese on toast...(the very small)

I love h2g2.

What you say makes sense to me Effers. I don't know if it's the *same* sense of course.

Our culture here really is amazing.

Oh I think we're pretty close. It really is fundamentally about mum 'putting the kettle on'

And that's just so ing powerful.

The richness just goes on and on from that....

And h2g2 is to with it.

I know exactly waht your talking about too... Weather we both 'know it' in exactly teh same way... probably not but... close I imagine....
