Swifts and swallows

They just turned up. Went outside...early evening and they are swooping and soaring for insects. Just turned up from Africa. Always gives me a thrill when they first arrive, after all that long journey.
Funnily enough a few weeks ago I suddenly thought..oh the swallows will just be leaving now.
It makes me so happy.

We have them here as well (but I'm sure they don*t come from Africa).

Same place I'd go if I could- Brazil!
(With stop offs in California and Mexico.)
Are they flying low to insure good weather?
