Slept through it due to sleeping tablets..

This whole wedding build up this week and the final pre-hysteria has really messed with my head. I suddenly knew I simply couldn't cope with either watching it or listening on the radio. The nauseating sycophancy of the BBC simply overwhelmed me. What used to be called BBC 24 and was very much world news based and factual has morphed into BBC News at some point. They actually had some sort of twirly Royal wedding thing shown every so often on the breaks. And the reporting was sickening - at least to me.
I took two sleeping tablets to make sure I'd sleep through it and not be tempted to watch the thing. Woke up at some point in the afternoon to see William driving an Aston Martin down the Mall with bride and balloons and cans attached...lots of cheering and union flags waved. Then they switched to Cameron's 'Big Society' street party in Downing street..with a lot of stupid interviews with people put there.
It all started with Blair in '97 when he had people put there to cheer him the day after his win.
We have become a nation of sheep..and now have our very own Royal X-factor.
It makes me feel ill. Maybe I'm getting old?
But in the past the artifice felt a bit real. Now they deliver tents to people sleeping out and give them their very own Union flags. The Queen is dead; long live the her grandson and new wife
Okay back to my own personal reality. Went outside earlier for a vodka and coke in the garden. The red and white Campion are now in flower; I have my first buttercup; hawthorn is just on the turn with its flowering; pond is getting ever smaller..and yet they'd promised rain for the wedding
Jesus please let this thing be over soon. Thank god for my English Country Garden
Oh and I love to be patriotic..but not about the latest plastic manifestation of of our national identity. It's all manipulated by the money men. And Brits are turning into big society sheep.

That was a rubbish way to put it.

I've avoided it all week. Not watched telly, apart from Dr Who and everything else has been on DVD. Been avoiding the papers and interweb news (apart from the footy)
Today has been mostly spent playing Mortal Kombat (I now know it's PEGI 18 ) planting some seeds and trying to rescue some strawberry plants (I hope they survive, they're really
)

I caught *THE KISS* on the news.
I really am so annoyed I wanted to get right into this with the kind of restrained reporting the BBC used to do...so you could project your *own* emotions onto it, ie not be constantly told what you are supposed to feel.
Mortal Kombat sounds good I have never played a computer game since a Star trek one about killing borg...actually come to think of it, killing 'borg' would seem like a great thing to do today
