Cult of Nature goes Under Water

Post 1

I'm pretty damned excited as I've just heard that my film I made will be shown this saturday and sunday as part of the Thames festival.

Maybe I'll get to meet Boris Jonhson...smiley - laugh

Here's the film, 'Under Water', as I've called it; it's based around an Edwardian road tunnel, running under the Thames.

It's best to let the film load first, as it takes a while to load, before pressing on the 'play' triangle. The stacato sound and silence, and the way it has been cut and edited is part of it.

Oh yeah in case you watch it 3dots, the shakey, shakey driving bits, in between the smooth bits are deliberate. They are me driving FAST..

Thanks Gif. It was meant to be short. They wanted people to submit short films with some connection to the Thames. Of course all the other films selected were mostly 'pretty/pretty things about the Thames on the surface. I came at it from a funny angle and went underground, or 'underwater' as I called it. And I got sent £500 for it.

The version you saw has been re-edited by me severely from the one originally shown that was linked to here. And is infinitely superior IMO now in its present form that you saw. 'Proustian' I love that. smiley - biggrin

Those reflections on the polished ceramic tiles of the interior of the tunnel have obsessed me for years. The tunnel is so narrow, and of course originally built for horse drawn carriages, but now an adrenalin rush in a car.

I since found on YouTube this guy who has made some typical 'boyracer' type films of Thames tunnels.

I recommend the Ferrari one. But mine is a bit more special and clever though, I reckon, smiley - winkeye But his are good for a buzz. Here's the Ferrari one in the tunnel. I do like it very much, but in a different way to mine. I really love the sound of its engine.

Of course, to be *truly* Proustian, it would need to be 3 1/2 hours long...

I was the watery thing that got me - and I didn't even realise they were tunnels under the river!
