h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Unsurprisingly, Sooty, Mistress of the Home and Goddess of the family was put to sleep at eleven o'Clock on Monday morning. She's had another retinal haemorrhage on Saturday and then we think a brain Haemorrhage on Sunday night. I thought she'd slip off on Sunday night but instead I took her to the vet on Monday morning.

So we are now expecting a black tree to grow in our back garden, with furry black leaves and fangs and claws as fruit. She was put under her favorite hiding tree.

However, not all is as black as it seems - inb facts its tiny and black and white and will be ready for it's new home by the end of the week (we hope) A little kitten from the cattery where Sooty was staying was in need of a home. I was umming and ahing about giving her to my father for fathers day - from the 'rents reactions on Monday I wasn't sure if they wanted another cat. But I just got a phone call consisting of a list of possible names for my new kitten. (the words evil and smelly came up a lot) I think Zoe is a nice name. As is Cleo. We'll see.

Nothing can replace Sooty. But I defy anyone to be sad in the presence of a five week old kitten who is black with a white belly and paws!

I am so sorry about your Sooty. It must have been a big wrench for you.

But now you have Zoe(?) or Cleo(?) which name did you choose.

It seems ages since I heard from you. I hope you are keeping well and the the thesis is being written up-written up- written 9-.

My book is at a dead halt. I have so many other things to do, and have been asked to serve onm the local NICE committee for Mental Health. A great honour, but also very time consuming as my eyes are not good and I read very slowly now.

I have a magnificent new phone - and a new door bell, and a fire alarm which went off yesterday with a tremendous racket. At. last I am registered as "deaf", which means that I can actually hear on my new telephone now.

How is psycho I have not read anything of his for ages. I got "lost"!, and even though I am now restored it is very difficult to find the Post now.
