The Fillmore Inn
ouiskiandzoda Started conversation Apr 26, 2005
I drove past an apartment complex this weekend. The name was proudly displayed toward the street: The Fillmore Inn. It sounded like a plea. I pictured dump trucks arriving to fill a hole. "A-void holes: Fillmore Inn."
Then I thought about the Fillmore in San Francisco. Psychadelic posters advertising hippie-generation concerts there are now sought after as collectors' items.
So I could (conceivably) make a poster. It would have tie-dye dump trucks rendered in Harry Crumb style. They would be coming toward the viewer via a rainbow road. Under the title, as above, the details would state that only clean, compactable fill is sought. No kitty litter, no round rocks, no root wads. It would extoll the safety and environmental virtues of filling holes, to prevent people falling in and to support crops. Aesthetic benefits would include capping a "dump," (the Fillmore Inn Apartments). It would hint at a mind-expanding experience. It would direct interested parties to bring the fill to the apartment complex. It would state that this is to be a communal effort (no pay) for the welfare of the planet and somehow be to the detriment of people over 30 and the establishment. It would state that the occasion would support a free-love atmosphere.
So, if I did this and serrupticiously posted this (preferably at midnight) around said apartment complex (which could use some sprucing up), would anyone but me "get it?"
