Superfulous Ice Cream Gadgets

I saw an advertisement today for a kit that will enable the user to mix toppings into their ice cream. It has a small granite slab to keep the ice cream from melting, and two spades. The idea is that you put the ice cream on the slabs and mix the toppings in, then serve. In my opinion, this whole concept is contrary to the point of ice cream.
Ice cream should be a treat. Who wants to work that hard? If you make your own, you can just put your toppings into the machine at the last minute and the machine mixes it in for you. If you're buying ice cream at your local grocer, there are all kinds available with a wide variety of do-dads mixed in already. Or, God forbid, you could just put your toppings ON TOP and eat it that way.
This must have been dreamed up by a compulsive type A person. You know, the kind that just can't relax. Someone like Martha Stewart. I decided she was nuts when she made a comment about enjoying ironing linens (like sheets). Dr. Suess was right--those that matter don't care, and those who care don't matter.
Who will use this more than three times, and then only to impress their snobby friends? Why take the simple joy out of ice cream? Join me in boycotting this product on the very principle.
