Musings

It's been a long time since I put a journal entry into this thing. I just thought I'd write about right now, just in case anybody ever happens to come across it...

I've basically been killing myself in work for the past 6 months. I leapt from music to what was supposed to be programming and music and sound effects. But it turned out to be pretty much full-on programming. I've been designing and writing a 3D sound plugin for 3DStudio Max called Thunder, you can see it at [URL removed by moderator].

Has it been worth it? Well that remains to be seen. I was starting to go a bit....peculiar. I'm still messed up. Every weekend for the past 3 weeks, I've slept through the entirety of Saturday. I've got two weeks holiday soon, so that should fix me. I'll sleep for the whole of the first week which means it won't be much of a holiday really.

I'll just have to wait and see what benefits it will bring, if any. I expect to be rewarded for being in work until at least 9pm every night for 5 months. If I'm not then I'll just have to "consider my position", won't I?

Is this really what I want to be doing? There's no doubt that I enjoy programming. It's basically a series of puzzles that I design and have to solve. And that is a good thing. I also feel more intelligent since starting this job. I haven't really used my mind so much since I was in school and I can feel the difference that some hard mental exercise has made. But I'm a musician. I don't want to have a "proper" job. I just want to do music....

It's around this moment in time that I have to decide which path my life should take. I'll keep you, Mr. h2g2, informed.
