Sail Away Sail Away
Kenito Started conversation Jul 13, 2000
Two days ago I went sailing. It was an absolutely wonderfully momentous occassion in my life, because at that point in time, I discovered that I was just crazy about being on the open water. You see, never before in my life have I ever had the experience of being on a little boat out in an ocean harbor, not even one of those little bitty boats of the motor variety. But now, I can say that I thoroughly enjoy the experience.
At first I was afraid: Would I get seasick? Would I fall out of the boat? Would I get banged on the head by the boom or jam up the jib?
But when my friend started taking us out into the water, and in his laid back manner told me to "Watch your head!!!" and, "Why don't you just hunker down, like this" I became increasingly relaxed. The weather was beautiful, the evening sun bathed us in a warm glow, and the wind blew gently into our sails (except for the occassional gust). A magical experience.
I came away from that experience feeling incredibly refreshed and relaxed, and really looking at the world around me in New Haven, Connecticut and appreciating it so much more. I can't wait for my next adventure out to sea...
