The global village

The global village has a few nasty problems.
For one, you don't get to see you neighbours most of the time. Also, when you want to buy someones wares, you end up spending way too much time with tricky tax forms.
What happened to the concept of the simple village market?
Did it disappear with the dawning of the computer age? No.
The whole purpose of a global village, would be to make large distances shorter, and to simplify everyones life. So where is this so-called simplicity?
Probably disappeared with the invention of multiple ftp file transfers on slow servers. Or, perhaps, when we discovered video streaming before we discovered cheap high bandwidth networks...
It's always comforting to know that your internet connection is crawling along because half a million people's mp3 downloads are being routed the same way.
Grmph.

Stop.
I take it all back.
I'm happy. Yes. Really!
What? Oh that. Just sorta kidding really...
Grumble.
What?
Nothing...
