well. i guess you all have heard that i called NYU today and found out that i have been deferred.

'what the heck does THAT mean?' you ask.

ah, let me explain.

i applied early decision, which means i sent in my app in november and i was notified in january (4 months before everyone else will be hearing).

well, i didn't get accepted, but i didn't get rejected either. which is good and bad.

that's what "deferred" means. basically, they didn't want to reject me so they tossed my app into the pile of regular decision applications. so i get a second chance to get in.

and although it's not as bad as being rejected, being deferred is still REALLY REALLY disappointing.

Aww! You poor thing... I was checking everyday at how your nick changed. Too bad it ended not as good.

thanks... i'm terribly disappointed. as you could probably tell (from the constantly changing nick) i was REALLY obsessing over it. but oh well. everything will work out. and it's probably better this way since i'll have a better chance at getting financial aid.

It all depends on how you look at it. If you focus on the good aspects of being deferred, then it isn't as bad ..... is that helpful or sound too much like a 'self-help book'?

yeah, the deferral is going to take some getting over, but i'll survive.
