"Tupi or not Tupi"
European art [mostly Expressionism], influencing Brazilian literature, painting, sculpture. - Still, Brazilian artists were trying to blend our culture with the strong European influence with the new national identity.
Mario de Andrade, Oswald de Andrade, Di Cavalcanti, Tarsila do Amaral - foremost authors and painters, but there were dozens of others.
"Macunaíma" - the book by Mario de Andrade

A Lunar Eclipse - long time ago
two expeditions:
one to Principe - a Cabo Verde Island
another to Sobral - a small town in the State of Ceará. Small, but the natives are so proud of themselves, it is nicknamed "Estados Unidos de Sobral" - United States of Sobral. Part of the equipment left by the expedition is still kept in the town's small museum.
These observations were used to prove that Einstein's calculations for his Theory of Relativity had been correct.

Ecum spiri tutu oh! Sorry , my latin has slipped a lot since Vatican II. Hi Peaceful Earthling! Just spotted your posting on the "Hi Kes" conversation. Very generous of you. I goofed in my relpy: you are "Keeper of Stories" I'm the teller of stories. I have noticed a lot of h2g2 folks visiting the "Foxy Manor" and discussing some rather, er, personal topics. I have yet to drop in and check these conversations out. Dulcet et decorum est, you know I must run now, but I have bookmarked your home page. Will talk again soon! Carpe Diem Terry

Hello MM,
Only two [bad] Latin teachers only know a few sentences.
History really is fascinating. I like it for its 'plot' ideas. I always liked to learn new stories. I can read a book many times, also watch most films more than once, as there is always something new to learn.
Hope you will use your knowledge to help h2g2 become the 'encyclopaedia' it intends to be. Some stories should be told, others only remembered.
- Yes, I do believe people should love their countries, as all inhabitants of this planet should also love it.
- Sorry I couldn't 'seize the day' and answer you sooner.

Hi PE! Don't fret about replying late. I don't get to check my h2g2 page as often as I would like. I, too, am often late to reply. Hey, why be in a hurry? One person said: "All things come to those who wait."; another said: "I keep in mind those fine moral qualties and make no noise or show." Yet another said: "The wise man holds the left tally [meaning to take the path of least resistance]." (Jesus, Confucius, Lao Tzu) Or, as Hopkins said: "leaves, like the things of man, you, with your fresh thoughts care for, can you?" To sum-up: time is forever so enjoy "now" now. "Let be be the finale of seem/Let the light affix its' beam/the only emperor is the emperor of ice cream." I don't often reread books, since there are too many I haven't read, but I have many favorite movies I watch over and over again. Poetry DEMANDS to be reread; that is the only way it can be appreciated fully. Anyway, I have babbled on enough for now. I probably sound like a stuffy prig. I hope I'm not as boring to others as I am to myself Talk to you later! MM

I agree that poetry should be read over and over again.
You are right about that.
But I can't agree with you about being boring. Don't know what you mean there. You seem to be 'unboring', so how can you manage to bore yourself?
Read some poetry. Write some more. You'll forget all about boredom.
Key: Complain about this post
