Very interesting article, -- if you are interested in animal rights.
Aristotle's 'man is a rational animal' has always intrigued me.
Rational... perhaps... sometimes.
Are we "better" animals?
Can we become 'better' humans?
Think we will be, when we become kinder.

Ah PE, another "no replies". Well, I'll take care of that! Humans must come to recognize that animals have souls too. Humans are only as good as they treat animals, or the whole enviroment for that matter. Having owned/been owned by a cat(s) for over 24 years I can testify that animals not only have souls, they have emotions. Look at dolphins and whales: scientists believe they REALLY HAVE a sixth sense (the ability to percieve their enviroment by sonar). And it is a fact that these sea mammals have a larger, perhaps more complex, brain than humans. I cried harder when my cat died than I did when my father died and I REALLY LOVED my father! I have watched my cat (Tigger) and I know he has a complex and sophisticated personality. He has a sense of humor and plays tricks on me and watches to see my reaction. God loves my cat every bit as much as God loves me or as much as my cat and I love each other. The way humans are going now it appears we may be extinct not too far in the future. But no matter how badly we destroy this "Island Earth" life on it will always spring back, BUT, it may not be human. (Tigger is saying "Hi" right now by the way) I am forever optimistic however and hope we can save ourselves. I hope so because I have just made some new and important friends on h2g2. MM

I 'had' several pets. Most of them interesting personalities. One of them was called Kitty. Obvious name, but such a loving creature. She taught us a lot about courage and love. And I did cry more than I cried for many people I knew - because she was important during the eight years she lived with us.
