h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Several months ago, I got a fortune cookie that was astoundingly odd. It told me I would become the heir to a small kingdom in Europe. Not believing there were any kingdoms there left up for grabs, I was a bit confused to say the least.

Yesterday my coworkers and I ordered out to the same Chinese restaurant where I got the original fortune cookie. They opened their cookies to the same boring round of good tidings people have come to expect. And I got another odd one!

'A large sum of money will be deposited in your account weekly.' !!!

Wow! This one, at least, has the facts straight. It even seems to have been penned this century. And yet.... What is this with me getting hints at monetary fortunes in these cookies?

I'm sorry. But I want to earn my fortune. I want it to take years of hard work. Afterwards, when I have retired to spend more time with my family, I want to have interesting stories to tell my grandchildren about my experiences.

Instead, I'm beginning to wonder whether my local Chinese restaurant isn't running a bookie shop in the back...

Argh!

What do you mean with a bookie shop?

Perhaps they are trying to get you intrested in working for the chinese secret service. Perhaps ALL the cockies worldwide actually are a very intriguing system of transporting secret informations back to China. Very clever the chinese, I think...

Hmm. Perhaps they're trying to tell me something about the spy plane we're in dispute over...

Isn´t it pathetic? Everyone knows they were spying, everyone knows the chinese wouldn´t let out a good chance to have a look at what the US is using, and then people like Bush just can´t get a "Sorry, didn´t mean it " over his lips. Everyone knows they´d be lying, and everyone know´s it won´t change a lot, but at least they could get over with it.

I wonder if you could change something, if you threw them a fortune cookie...

Hey, not a bad idea! Bush might just fall for a, 'You will make a notable apology tomorrow' fortune cookie.
