Well, another weekend passes - a positive gallop through a minefield of excitement. If only my life lived up to the sales pitch.
Bore first hand witness to the circle of life on Poets evening. As I consumed undercooked sausages and drank too much, I in turn provided a similar fare to the batallions of midges that do infest this decidedly damp country of mine. A small price to pay for living in Paradise (albeit a generally quite wet version).
The day that has until now been referred to as saturday was suitably sedate and the evening was spent speaking to people I'd never met nor even heard of until the invitation came through the door. One neighbour at dinner sounded like she was overcoming a strange compulsion to speak Xhosa as her sentences were awash with clickings and cluckings and strange palletal usage - the fact that she never blinked was also slightly disturbing.
Excessive consumption of the chemical known as ethanol meant that my head was throbbing like a Polaris submarine for most of Sunday morning and the knickerfullness of the weather made for a decidedly inactive day ... both of these allied with the fact that I'd run the equivalent of a half marathon teaching English sorts how to dance meant that even if I had wanted to move faster than an arthritic sloth, the body wasn't willing.
And so I here I am, again, looking forward to another week with all the excitement and trepidation of ... look see - that's what's happened. It's sodit and I've left my brain behind ... oh well.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
