Hello dear readers, There is a train of thought that says that schools are mystical places full of wonder and awe, (i think thats the word! being a teacher doesn't mean you can spell). Children, as i have said before are funny creaures, especially on the last day of term. On this more holy day than Christmas, children change But for that day only. On any other day a typical pupil would think of nothing but trying to wind you up, not doing work or at least doing it so slowly it makes a sloth look energetic! On the last day of term none of this happens. Children appear bright, energetic and a few even seem intelligent, (Although this is widely disputed amongst the teaching fraternity). On this day children become pleasent, classes normally full of noise and disruption become quiet and run as smooth as virgin olive oil off a ducks back. On this day time moves swiftly and as the bell signaling the end of the school day you realise that come next term the children will be back to their old selves. This is why teachers need 2 weeks of between terms. We need that length of time to recover from depression
(I will get around to sorting out my homepage when the anti-depressant i've just sucked from the corner of my towel has worked!)

That's why schoolchildren think it's vitally important that the school week should be changed to two days school followed by five days holiday, as opposed to the current ridiculous system.
By the way, do you think it's true that 'School days are the happiest days of your life'? Because if it is, I think I'll become a teacher too.

'tis a vicious lie! Teachers demanded a 2 day week seconds before the kids did! Seriously though teaching isn't everyone's cup of tea. I, and i hate to admit it, despite the crap pay (Approx £15,000) and Looooooooonnnnggggggg hours, (you're only paid for directed time i.e. time that you are teaching. You're not paid to spend hours marking or spending time with pupils after school to help them with their project work. I worked out that over one and a half terms i spent an EXTRA half-term, without pay mind, helping some pupils with their work after school), i honestly wouldn't change my job for anything else in the world, Well unless i get asked to play the next James Bond
NB Well not strictly true. I love to work for those guys who make the Oxford English Dictionary. Why? So i could get 'their' changed the 'thier' as my fingers keep insisting on typing it that way!

you get a cool name for a union though - NUT
I've just watched 'Mr Holland's Opus' which has got to be the best film I've ever seen about teaching. (Come to think of it, it's probably the only film I've seen about teaching. Oh well)
Do you teach primary or secondary (or some other variation)? I've always wondered which would be better/worse to teach!

Must be quick. I think they've spotted me ........
Ohhh it's you. in answer to your question i teach in a secondary school. Both primary and secondary have thier advantages and disadvantages. i must admit i would love to teach Yr1 to Yr4. To spend all day playing in the sand pit, reading stories etc.. plus children at those ages are at the most receptive.
Nice to see you....i think they're getting closer. Run!!!!!!!!!
