Just got word that I got accepted at UCONN. Quite the acomplishment for the guy who did literally two assignments his junior year of highschool. The SAT's are the only reason I'm not some kind of male prostitute or walking around Willimantic collecting cans. Maybe UCONN isn't the best school, but it's getting better and it's a big step up from Quinnipiac University, possibly the most boring and homogeneous academic institution this side of Lynchburg, VA (private joke). Anyway, my days of sitting by myself in the library are over! I'll actually have one or two people to talk to, not a booming social life I know, but guys like me will take what they can get.
In the mean time I've got exams coming up and an extraordinarily long paper to do for english, but I finally made myself sit down and start it which is always the hardest bit. Since I'm skipping out on class Friday to go help my Dad do sound for his band I've got something like 10 total days of class remaining and that's counting exams. I finished my Christmas shopping too, which is always a load off.
Anyway, just basically trying to make the next two weeks go by as quickly as possible. Playing a lot of Sega Genesis on an emulator I downloaded (ROMNation.net is an awesome site, how's that for an unpaid plug, now all the people who read my journal religiously will all scramble over to download one). It definitely brings back fond memories of when I was a skinny pale youngster spending hours playing genesis in my dad's basement, ahh...I've led an interesting life.
I'm reading Player Piano by Kurt Vonnegut right now. Since it's his first novel he hasn't really developed a sense of humor yet. It just doesn't sound like him. Regardless, still better then a lot of the garbage out there. Also, just read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, a fantastic book, was funny in a dark kind of way but at the same time thought provoking, the kind of book that makes you re-think how you look at the world. It definitely deserved all the hype it got.
I'm a bit tired so I think I'll go back to my room now and try to ignore my roomate having sex with his girlfriend in the bed next to me (Don't ask, lets just say I can't wait to transfer). The plan is to start writing regularly in this journal which I've never really managed to do before, lets see if I can keep it up.
