I've just put my sailing photos online for those who were on board, and thought that someone here just might be interested as well... So I also put up a little introduction for those who weren't there - just see
http://www.dlc.fi/~laineet/anni/sailingintro.htm
and continue there to the photos...

Looks fun ... the last time I went sailing I helped sink a boat and then ambushed our instructor and left him spluttering in the Severn (a rather dirty river in Wales)

lol -that- sounds like fun...
The tradition in these camps has usually been to throw all the kids into the sea in the end - and then get also thrown there oneself... I wonder why we now didn't...
What kind of a boat you were sailing with?

Um... I can't remember now... they were only little boats, as we had a fairly restricted river to sail on. I'd liked to have done a lot more serious sailing but I don't think our instructor had much of a clue about it all.
They certainly weren't as nice as the boats in your pictures!
Trouble is with falling/being thrown into the Severn is that you kind of squelch into it and leave footprints...
I've done a bit of sea sailing (in the Isles of Scilly, a cool bunch of islands off the southernmost tip of England) which is a lot more fun but that was a while back.

lol now why do get the image of river Ankh in my head...
And sea sailing is absolutely the best way of sailing!! Not that I'd ever have sailed in a lake or a river... Hmm...

It doesn't match up to it at all... mind you, at least you avoid the storms a bit better!
(I've sailed in a pretty hairy storm at sea once)

Nope, making dinner is the fun part. To be more precise, trying to make tea on a gas cooker that's leaning over onto you at about 45 degrees, with the skipper shouting abuse at you down through the hatch.
I sailed around the North Sea with a load of people who I knew really well, in a 15 metre (49 feet) boat. The skipper was an arse but what the heck, it was still fun...

Making the dinner -is- fun... A couple of years ago we had a real disaster in the kitchen (with a bigger boat that time... No, that was a ship...
) when the crew estimated the force of the wind "slightly" wrong and when we came from behind an island the wind hit us so strongly the 30-metre ship actually took water in! And the soup was just boiling in the kitchen... lol...
Oh, and Chrome - Ă…land is that pretty big island between Finland & Sweden which belongs to us but has kind of an autonomy... And Turku is a city by the sea in the continent so the archipelago is between those two...
