I had a Zenit EM some years ago. I was told that it was likely to be the only SLR with a through-the-lens light meter that would work after armageddon because the meter didn't need a battery. It has a selenium cell... whatever that means. And yes, it's built like a Russian tank. If you whack someone upside the bonce with it they're going to know they've been whacked. And the camera will probably still work perfectly afterwards. Mine got some rough treatment and took terrific pictures all the same.

I wonder what post-Armageddon photos would look like. "ooohhh there's a lovely shot here of a white shadow of Jimmy playing with the dog...."

That, of course, was in the days before digital cameras. There wouldn't be much point in trying to use a film camera after a nuclear holocaust because all the film would probably be fogged from the radiation and there'd be no-one at Boots to get them developed for you anyway.

Me being a complete technosaurus, I got my first digital camera about a year ago, and that was a present for someone else. Having said that the images are absolutely superb.

I still haven't cracked a digital camera. Having seen other people's and borrowed my mother's they are simply too annoying to use. I either need a really expensive one, or they just haven't invented a decent one yet.

Shame, as they are better for the environment than all those chemicals.
