What a weekend!
The Researcher formally known as Dr St Justin Started conversation Jan 29, 2002
Well, it all started on Friday evening. Light very kindly picked me up on her way home from w*rk, so we could travel down to nodnoL together on Saturday. When we got to her (very lovely!) cottage, it was badge making time... (for her, not me - I'd already made mine!)
After a bite to eat, we ventured down (in the dripping rain) to her local pub, where I think I met at least half of the village! And being a typical country pub, it didn't shut at 11pm...
After finally getting to rather late, it was pretty difficult getting up early enought to get the train! In fact, we managed to miss the train we were aiming to get. But, for once, the rail services seemed to be running fairly smoothly, so we didn't have to wait too long.
So down to Marylebone, then a short tube hop to Kings Cross before finding our hotel, and meeting 2legs. Then off to pub #1 for the afternoon... Although the taxi driver didn't actually know where it was, so we went up and down Whitehall before anyone spotted it...
The pub was packed! It looked slightly daunting seeing *so* many people, and not knowing who I already knew, if you see what I mean... So the obvious place to head for was the bar.
The pattern for the afternoon seemed to be set fairly quickly. Talking and . The photo scavenger hunt sounded like fun, but I decided to wimp out, and stick with the
. Before long, it was time to head for pub #2...
We were greeted by a certain Mr Moxon, whose ego had obviously gotten the better of him , seeing as he was handing out bits of paper with his name on... Luckily there was a purpose to this! I just don't know what it was...
The second pub, being much smaller than the first, was rather full. Life was cosy to say the least! Food (very tasty!),
talking, and a short pub quiz. I think that sums it up. Oh, and a paper Post, and several photographs being taken...
Eventually, due to some silly licensing laws(), and people needing to
(for some reason), we were forced to leave. Goodbyes were quite sad, but there's always the thought of the next meet...
So it was back to the hotel, to catch a few z's. And be ready to leave by 10am .
Then it was time to address RL again. Which meant getting home. We stopped en route to the station at a cafe, for a spot of breakfast. Great way to start the day! Then we had to say goodbye to 2legs, before Light and I headed for our own train. Which wasn't just a train - it was a train and a coach. Stupid maintainance works... always on a bl**dy Sunday...
You're all lovely people. And I'm already looking forwards to the next meet... Which hopefully won't be *quite* so soggy...
What a weekend!

from a just-as-soggy GB and just-as-sad at getting back to RL.
I can't believe you didn't know what a "Moxon" was!
I hope you spent it!
I was also delayed, I missed my coach home. Had to get a single train ticket from King's Cross instead
Looking forward to next time, already.
What a weekend!

I vaguely remember someone mentioning Moxon's before... And yes, I did follow the trend and spend it! Very worthwhile it was too I hate to imagine what the current GBP-to-Moxons exchange rate is!
Aww honey! A case of oversleeping? Or just bad timing?
What time where you at Kings Cross? That's where we dropped 2legs off...
I'm looking forward to next time, the time after that, and the next one, and the next...
What a weekend!

Oversleeping?
What's that?
No, a nightmare journey from where I was staying - getting kicked off a train, onto a bus, no taxis, finding out another bus ride from Victoria that I'd never make my couch home.
And there was only one.
So we headed for King's Cross.
We arrived there at 2.30pm, the next train to Doncaster was at 3.30.
Changed for Cleethorpes train & was in the station waiting for my daughter at 7pm.
If *you* were on another platform twiddling your thumbs at the same time I am going to scream!!!!!
What a weekend!

Ah. Those pesky maintainance works (or whatever it is they claim to be doing to the tracks) strike again...
No, we'd been gone at least an hour by then... our train pulled out of Marylebone at about 1445.
What a weekend!

Hmmm... Somehow I get the feeling that I would't particularly want to be in the same room as a mad you...
Or even the same country!
What a weekend!

Hehehe
You got that right!
I am the most easy-going, sleeping volcano, of anyone I know.
Hey, you know my "h2g2 romances or just gossip?" journal?
Uncle Heavy just proposed to Clelba there.
*sigh*
Always the h2g2 bridesmaid...
What a weekend!

* to check the gossip...*

I don't know what to say...
Anyway, I'm sure the bridesmaids have just as much fun...
