The Great British Beer Festival was a combination of good and bad. The bad was that choice was severely limited as many of the beers had run out. The good was that there was room to breath and I met up with Pastey, Munchkin and Phil, real live researchers. It's quite an interesting experience meeting up with strangers who are not strangers and comforting to realise you get on as well IRL as on H2G2 , although alcohol does encourage a certain bonhomie in like mided people.
Despite the fact that it was all slightly more relaxed in terms of train travel (no running for the last train home), I think on balance I'll go back to evening sessions early in the week.

It is a bit weird yes. Thats why I brought a couple of friends, to hide behind if you all turned out to be scary weirdos. Luckily you weren't, which was nice And I will definately be up for the Woking one when it comes around.

Don't know if you've visited the Mudcat Cafe:

but apparently there's a Mudcatters meeting scheduled as part of Whitby week which I'm aiming to attend. Should be interesting to see if my reaction is like yours. Doubtless alcohol will play a useful part in this one too

If I know anything about Whitby that last statement is a given . I haven't really hung out at the Mudcat Cafe although you sent me the URL some time ago. I'll be interested to know your reaction to actually meeting folks.

Well that was coherent For clarification purposes, we would appear to have convinced one of my friends from Saturday that H2G2 is worth visiting. And I thought we were just talking gibberish

Thank you for the clarification I'd sort of guessed. So it really was gibberish and not an obscure Scottish accent?

Having just perused the last few posts it sounds as if you all had a damn good time at the GBBF. Are you sure the beer was running out??

And what's wrong with gibberish then? I'd say we were thriving on it Saturday night...
