Well, the past 10 days have been quite an experience, leaving England's wet and rainy shores for the warm sun of Rome. The testosterone charged taxi drive from the airport to the appartment, the first sight of the Roman forum, Italian food and wine, sight-seeing and then back to England. The seven hour queue to get into a car park at Silverstone, getting in with an hour to spare before the race. The thrill of seeing and hearing 22 Formula 1 racing cars streaming into Copse Corner for the first time. All in all, an excellent time

Welcome home, BluesSlider. I hope you brought some of that Roman sun back with you. I'm sure you brought a bit of the wine

Thank you, Zmrzlina, it's good to be back As for the Roman sun, I had to leave it there but it is brighter here than it has been. Ah, wine, yes indeed, along with some marvellous parmesan and peccorino cheese and many happy memories

Yo bro Hope you've managed to get the Silverstone mud off'n your cowboy boots - I am SO relieved you got in for the start having seen some of the TV footage of the traffic stuck after they closed the roads. I saw in the paper the other day an ad for coach trips to some of the European Grands Prix and thought that sounded like a fun way to spend a weekend... fancy trying to combine the Belgian GP with a beer-drinking trip next year?
Have a good weekend with Princess Heather and her loyal subjects - I can recommend as a spiritual experience sitting drinking Guinness with a small, newly-bathed lady under the other arm having her bedtime drink
