Ahoy-hoy - please subscribe to the above.smiley - smiley

'Llangollen Railway is a company that offers train rides from Llangollen to Corwen (and back again) in North Wales'
I know it is nitpicking, but would you consider rewording the opening sentence to avoid the word 'Company'; saying 'company' could be seen to imply that Llangollen is a fully licenced TOC (Train Operating Company) – which it isn't and probably doesn't want to be. You later describe the line as being run by a Society, so maybe you would like to change it to that, or trust, charity, heritage line etc?

Ahoy-hoy!

I've subscribed smiley - ok

I'll investigate later what to do about the opening sentence - Llangollen Railway isn't a TOC, I don't think, but I do think it is a Company registered in Companies House, so I shall check the details and think some more...

OK, so yes, you can delete "is a company that" from the opening sentence.

Then in the Trains paragraph, please replace "Llangollen Railway" with "The Llangollen Railway Trust Ltd"

smiley - ok

Yes, that works – we don't to confuse people because although it is a company that operates trains, it isn't a Train Operating Company.smiley - laugh

Is it just me, or does 'Shell Oil' always remind you of 71077345?

Just trying to put together a timetable and distance based on the information above.

1975 - 60 feet of track at Llangollen
1981 - a quarter of a mile of track.
1985 - track two miles longer to Berwyn Station (2¼ miles)
1989 - The amount of track had doubled in length (4½ miles?)
1992 - Glyndyfrdwy Station rebuilt and trains started running there.
1993 - Carrog Station was refurbished
1996 - Two mile route to Carrog completed
2014 - Railway from Llangollen to Corwen (20-mile round trip from Llangollen to Corwen)

So should we mention that it is a 10-mile route in the 'History of the Line' section? Also distance to Glyndyfrdwy and Carrog from Llangollen? As the line went from Llangollen to Corwen in 1865 and now once again goes between the two, do you know if there are any plans to extend the line further?

"Is it just me, or does 'Shell Oil' always remind you of 71077345?" smiley - laugh Not just you indeed!

Nggh - seems to be all change for 1 November... The Llangollen Railway website is the second one that I've come across today that isn't the same as when I looked at it yesterday smiley - weird

It's 7.5 miles from Llangollen to Carrog
and 5.25 miles from Llangollen to Glyndyfrdwy

I like how you ask excellent questions... I'll post this message and then try to explain how the line was connected to the main network, which I conveniently avoided in Peer Review... smiley - laugh

Right:

The Vale of Llangollen Railway joined Llangollen to Ruabon in 1859
The railway between Llangollen and Corwen opened in 1865
The line between Corwen and Barmouth was completed in 1869.

Thus the Llangollen and Corwen Line became part of the Ruabon to Barmouth Line.

The current plan is to extend the line to Corwen Central Station, which is in the process of being built (the original Llangollen to Corwen line was 10.4 miles long). The long term goal is to extend the line back to Ruabon, which is a station on the National Rail Network.

Now I've worked all that out, I'm not sure it helps, but anyway...

I hoped you'd appreciate the 71077345, having described yourself before as a maths smiley - geek. smiley - winkeye

I've added what you've said to the text – in the 'History of the Line' section and a couple of words in 'get involved', so let me know what you think.

Thanks <BB<

I like the update to the first paragraph in the History of the Line section - neatly done smiley - ok

There's a bit of rounding error involved in the distances, so it makes "The two mile route to Carrog, 7½ miles from Llangollen" look odd - perhaps just say "The route to Carrog..."

Now it's my turn to get technical - Corwen East isn't a Temporary Halt, it's an actual station (the Halt is further up the line)...

Please put the first sentence back into the paragraph it came from and change it to "The railway as it is today, stretching ten miles from Llangollen to Corwen, was officially opened on 22 October, 2014."

Please delete the two new sentences and instead we can change the first sentence of the Get Involved paragraph to something like:

Plans to extend the line and add more stations are ongoingThe original Llangollen to Corwen line was 10.4 miles long so the plan for 2016-18 is to extend the line to Corwen Central Station, which is in the process of being built. The long term goal is to extend the line back to Ruabon and connect it to the National Rail Network.

Yes indeed I do appreciate 71077345 as I like to keep a calculator handy smiley - geek I've even looked at 5318008 occasionally smiley - blush
