This is a really brill entry and not much I can add to it. Just a couple of points, mind, on first read through.

Saintpaulia is named after Walter von Saint Paul, who found the plant, and his father, who was President of the German Dendrological Society and who sent the plants to a botanical garden to be scientifically studied for the first time in 1892.

This sounds a bit clumsy, I'll have a think about a possible rewording.

There are various types of African Violet, ranging from micro (3in or 7cm) to large (12in or 30cm) in size.

I've been chewing it over, rewording and restructuring but I can't actually think of a better way to word that sentence, so I think I'll alone.
