PV Traumatics

Valentine's Day is a weird thing. I mean c'mon. A feast day for a martyred bishop and his parishioners? How did that trasmute into a pink and red splurge-fest for the card companies? I had a slightly different one this year because within the cirlce of my acquaintance there lies an unfortunate individual who will forever have to plan well in advance if she wants to go out for a meal with some friends on her birthday. Instead we did what every non-pioneer Irish person would do on their birthday, we went to the pub. Strangest thing. I walked in with another friend to be faced by couples, nearly all over the bar were these cute little twosomes trying (mostly, there were of course some for whom it was genuine and others who didn't give a rats arse as long as they had a kiss on Valentine's) to look lovingly into each others eyes for an entire evening (very hard work). However there was a coterie of about 12 young ladies starting (what turned out to be) a superb evening. Don't worry, it wasn't a girls night out (although at the start it was looking like a close run thing) and by the time we wended our merry way to the Turk's Head (Parliament St, Dublin, if you have to ask where then go visit the country) for a night of ridiculous dancing we were a nice even half'n'half. Shockingly enough we were all in work the next day, for the most part bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, and there was not a hangover to speak of between us despite the plentiful and powerful libation consumed. Monday night is not a bad night to go out on at all at all.

Gorillas' Undercarriage

Have you ever felt like you are missing the point? No reason, just felt like throwing that out there. Well everything is quiet down here in this little corner of the globe. About the most interesting thing that has cropped up lately is a batch of photos from my NYP that certain people will really want to see while others will rather they were never developed! I seem to be getting a name as some sort of a paparazzi(?) style photographer, it would appear, that if the photo is to be embarrassing I am definitely the one you will be pointing a finger at, my timing lately has been either perfect or ruinous depending on your perspective and I am not sure that I ought to keep it up (I think I value what life I havesmiley - smiley). Oh well

Nihilism and friends

Under normal circumstances the world gets on quite well and I let it go about its business without to much bother but every now and then I feel like bucking (and it is a nice way of saying a nasty word) it all up and saying something truly uplifting. That is not for today however, or at least not for here. Privacy and PR make strange bedfellows but I went to a friends gig last night and I was well impressed. Having never been one to support the rampant 'music' industry I acquiesced and decided to support him, it was Monday night, the venue - Temple Bar Music Centre, Dublin, the band - Al Dente, the lift - Paul D., the atmosphere - present and breathable, the music - superb. All in all worth it. Now to do my very first plug. If you would like to know these poor part-timers they had the decency to open a website try clicking this and see does it work.....

6 minutes and counting

Ok, so I said I wouldn't do it. So I said that, so what? I can change my mind can't I? I have about six minutes of my lunch break left and I thought instead of sharing it with my work colleagues.......ooh photos. We had our Christmas Party weekend before last and there have been the usual round-up of alcohol-induced stories and photos so they are always a good laugh. It is a brave person that walks in with a set of photos after a party like that. There is a group, in every situation, that can smell potential amusement at a mile and they descend like vultures, or maybe a pack of hyenas (they are earthbound after all!), and wrest the photos soon to be followed by laughter (another similarity to hyenas?) and the inevitable red faces and ripped-up evidence. The trick is to make sure you seperate the negatives first.......
