Today I'm making liquer orange slices (mainly because I was in a hurry in Safeway's and bought 20 oranges thinking they were satsumas), so tuck in...

An ice cream van has just driven past my window. I think it's being a bit optimistic.

I love ice cream. I just think it's being a bit optimistic driving round Southampton in winter.

I agree...it has turned very cold! Did you have snow down there yesterday? We did up here in Northampton...well....slush really!

Nah... we rarely get snow here, due to being so near the sea. I've got a friend who's lived on the Isle of Wight all his life, and he's only seen it snow there once.
I grew up in Wales...that's a different matter.
Once there was four feet of snow.
Snowdrifts can come up to ten feet or so.
Once it was -15°C in our living room.
When I woke up, there was ice on the inside of my window.
I kind of miss it though...

Yes! The village I used to live in was prone to being cut off by HUGE snowdrifts....so we would all just adjourn to the pub....hmmmm.....
time, gentlemen please? Not when the local constabulary can't get through!

It's getting a kind of cosy pub atmosphere round here now. I wouldn't mind one of those liqueur orange slices if you're offering. And did somewhere mention yummy chocolates too?
I think I shall throw a Christmas ball. It's always a good excuse to get dressed up, and enjoy some punch. Better make the most of it, as it's the last one of the decade/century/millennium. I'll expect all the ladies in ballgowns, and smart dress gentlemen please. Absolutely NO digital watches - really spoils the continuity.

Here, I brought some (virtual) refreshments. Oh, and I hope you like my James Bond style tuxedo.
I will have a vodka martini. Shaken, not stirred.
Ooh, I like the feel of that.
