I have been researching self-harm and depression for decades and now know far more than my own doctor, in how to treat it. I find your coments utterly unhelpful, to the point where they increase my anger and take me closer to the point of actually cutting.

So how about a bit of sensitivity and perhaps reading my journal entry on auntie beeb and agreeing to leave me alone.

There is a chance that your 'comments' could drive me from h2g2, and then I would have nowhere to go or no-one to turn to, which would leave me in more danger of actually doing something.

So please back off and leave me in peace as you always make me feel much much worse.

Like many people I do not self harm anymore (mostly) but that doesn't stop the desire/need. Instead now when I get that frustrated, I come here and let it all out. Then I feel better. Then later I come back and see a condescending message from yourself and all that anger returns.

Your messages rub salt into a just healing wound.

They definately make things worse.

I have my own system now for dealing with this stuff and you are making things more difficult for me.

Will you agree to leave me alone, or do you want me to leave h2g2 and have to go through this on my own, with nowhere to vent my frustrations and possibly much worse results?

We're sorry you feel this way about the Auntie Beeb messages. The Auntie Beeb account is used by the moderators late at night when all of the hosting staff are at home. (It isn't one individual). The account operates DNA-wide and we are unable to tailor its approach to individual users.

The messages are not intended to be condescending. They perform a vital service in directing users to places where they can get help from trained professionals.

As h2g2 is not a site manned by trained counsellors, it is vitally important that we give people this information rather than leading to a situation where they depend on the posts of untrained individuals, however well-meaning, for advice.

I need an assuarance that Auntie Beeb will not post to my space again. I need a safe space to rant when scared or frustrated. Once I have ranted here, the feelings rapidly die down. To see these messages brings back all the fear or anger that I had suceeded in dealing with, and brings it back worse than before.

I hope you can see that for me auntie beeb makes things worse and I cannot risk that. However to stop posting here means I will have lost my only safe space I have to do this and I worry for my mental health. Dealing with chronic pain and disability means I get very frustrated at times, I need to vent. My only friends are on this site.

Please do not take my safety valve away from me and assure me that I will not find auntie beeb messages again, becaues they always bring back all the negative feelings which I had already dealt with.

I will now have to leave h2g2.

I don't know what is worse, being triggered by insensitive messgaes from strangers or being told that h2g2 will make no effort to stop them.

When h2g2 knows I am effectively housebound due to recent disability and this is where my only friends are.

You have just worsened my live considerably, I am now crying my eyes out, but of course you will not care, as you do not care about individuals.

I have just lost my lifeline, what am I to do?
