Doctor Who!

Sure thing, I don't mind - so hi! It's always good to meet another Whovian who's willing to admit his/her Whovianism.
It's also so pleasing to know that the new series is getting so much attention and bringing in more fanboys and fangirls.
Doctor Who!
U2006 Posted May 2, 2007
Well you are what you are i always say. It's thanks to the new series i started to watch who!
When did you start?
Doctor Who!
unisyc Posted May 2, 2007
And that's the best thing of all, isn't it?
About... 12 years ago, I think. My brother introduced me to it - I've even had a website which I haven't properly updated for several years. I'm working on a major update for next January. But, then again, that's what I said last year.

U2006 Posted May 3, 2007
'I'm working on a major update for next January.' - I'd love to lend a hand if you need it? I'm a bit of a writer but saddly not good with the old HTML.
So whose your faverate Doctor then?
Doctor Who!
unisyc Posted May 4, 2007
Thanks, but I'll be fine - I've had this insanely-complicated vision in my mind for the past four years, so I've developed a bit of the ol' NIH syndrome.
Sylvester McCoy (followed by Troughton, McGann, Tennant and Davison). Yours?
Doctor Who!
U2006 Posted May 4, 2007
'NIH syndrome.'?
I have to go with Eccelston to be honest! Love the guy. Followed by Tennant then Davidson, baker and them McGann.
Doctor Who!
unisyc Posted May 4, 2007
Good choices, although I'm more of a Richard E. Grant as Ninth Doctor person than Eccleston as Ninth Doctor.
NIH syndrome - Not Invented Here syndrome.

U2006 Posted May 5, 2007
You gota love Grant! Have you seen withnail and I? One of the best movies ever!
Doctor Who!
unisyc Posted May 7, 2007
I actually haven't seen many of his films - so I haven't seen Withnail and I. I've mainly seen him in comedy or Who, to be honest.
Doctor Who!
U2006 Posted May 7, 2007
If you ever get a chance you should check it out.
So, what else do you like?
Doctor Who!
unisyc Posted May 8, 2007
I shall remember that.
Red Dwarf, the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, er... public broadcasting and, er, stuff.
Doctor Who!
U2006 Posted May 8, 2007
I quite like red Dwarf and of course Hitchhikers. Battlestar Glactica, Life on Mars and Quantum Leap I also love.
Doctor Who!
unisyc Posted May 8, 2007
Nice choices. Haven't seen much of Battlestar Galactica (only a couple of the new episodes and bits and pieces of the old).
Life on Mars is coming to the ABC later this month, and I've never seen any of Quantum Leap.
Are you a Stargate person, by any chance?
Doctor Who!
U2006 Posted May 8, 2007
Battlestar Galactica (the new one) is the best show on TV sometimes by a long shot..only sometimes because it has a habit of being SO S L O W mid-season for five or so episodes and then picks up.
ABC? I'm guessing your american then? How does Doctor Who fare over in the states? life on mars is well worth looking out for, it's astounding.
I dabble in Stargate but mostly atlantis. Yourself?

It's on one of the commercial networks late one night - not sure if it's airing at the moment, then.
Hehe, no. I'm Australian.
Did you know that the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (or Commission, as it originally was) first broadcast in 1932? And parts of it were being set up in 1928?
Do you know when the American Broadcasting Corporation began? 1943.
I'd say that 15 years is rather definitive in making our ABC the right ABC.
The ABC - unique public broadcasting that isn't as screwed-up as some other broadcasters.
Sorry, the obligatory rant about how our ABC is better (it brings tears to my heart sometimes <winkeye).
I can tell you how it fairs in Australia - it's surprisingly popular. From 2003 to 2005, all of the (archive-complete) classic episodes were aired (with the exception of the Dalek stories due to some disagreement with the Nation estate, from memory) were aired Monday to Thursday nights on the ABC to celebrate the 40th anniversary and I think some of the later episodes were still airing just about when we got the first series of the new Who in '05, so there was an audience and some publicity there already.
I've heard some good reviews about Life on Mars, so I'll remember to watch out for it.
I was once (this is a huge over-simplification here) left for a week with my brother's first season DVD boxed set of Stargate SG-1 and his Xbox - I finished all of Lego Star Wars and SG-1 season 1.
I've seen episodes of SG-1 here and there for the rest of the seasons and I've recently started watching Atlantis (it's on Thursday nights after Family Guy and Con, so it's a nice line-up ).
I also saw the film a couple of years ago.

U2006 Posted May 8, 2007
Oh WOW! Your australian? Thats awesome! I've never met an australian before.
Feel free to rant, I don't mind.
I'm glad it's doing well, and please do watch out for LOM. John Simm is something special.
Lego starwars is awesome!
Do you write at all? I'm a writer myself.
Doctor Who!
unisyc Posted May 8, 2007
I feel so... unique all of a sudden.
I couldn't find anything on the ABC TV site about Life On Mars, but there have been ads saying that it'll be coming this month.
Did you get through the bonus Episode IV level? I thought that was really cool, if annoying to do (the controls can be really frustrating at times). I haven't played the Original Trilogy one yet, though, but I'm sure it'll be just as awesome.
I do, but I haven't really written anything I was really pleased with - I'm writing something now that I am actually happy with.
I'm an unemployed student, though, bludging off Mum. I promise to get a job next semester. I promise.
Doctor Who!
U2006 Posted May 8, 2007
Ah! You see i've only played the origional triology ones. (Don't hold much truck with the prequils)
I dabble in Articles here on HooToo and have got a couple of who stories in the CAC but not much else..i want to write for the BBC when I graduate.
What is it you study? If you don't mind me asking.
