Bible and Green Politics

Hi Mikey,

Since most others don't want a Bible discussion on the Dawkins thread, and this doesn't relate directly to the subject of the existing NT thread, I thought I'd respond to the green politics thing here; hope you don't mind.

The verses you cited from Revelation describe a star falling from heaven and poisoning the waters. I don't see how that's telling people to look after the Earth; were they the verses you meant, or was it a typo?

Hi Gifsmiley - smiley

I wasn't referring to green politics at all actually, the thing that was of interest was the similarity between predicted global warming catastrophes and the disasters predicted in the bible (Not just Revelation but Jesus' words concerning the end times, which we recently considered). (Water becoming undrinkable, a third of the living creatures in the sea dying) Also increase in 'wickedness', earthquakes, wars and rumours of wars. I'm told that the returning of jews to Israel in the 1960s is also significant in terms of signs of the times.

Re the disputed birth date of Jesus...I have some theological tomes on my way! The father of a friend of mine died recently; he was a methodist minister. I'll be sifting through his library for relevant material. I hope I find something useful or its one in the eye for me!

You don't fancy becoming a christian do you(?!) we could do with someone with your stub...em...tenacitysmiley - biggrin on our team!
