THIS thread is a perfectly good place for a pajama party. I don't mind levity in general, only when (combined with the abysmally slow threading software) it gets in the way of other discussions.

I know what yo mean I have a number of party threads going but sometimes the seriuos ones warp into a PJ party maybe it's just some of those guys I hang around with deciding that once a party animal always a party animal. I try not to post to seriuos threads of which I have no concern or knowledge. For example earlier I checked out the New Users forum that Peta set up. Most of the posts on there were not from nebies this week, but you guessed it a party.

Ooops before I turn this party thread into a seriuos thread and reverse the trend.

Right...well, mike (do you mind if I call you that until I find out what the "ff" stands for? Thanks. ), you'll have to forgive most of us on H2G2 when it comes to thread corruption. A good deal of us have either made ourselves too comfortable on here, or we've no concept of the word "business", or we simply find it very hard to take anything seriously. Not that I'm speaking for everyone on here, of course...or even for myself, really, since I don't think anything was directed at me...directly. It's just that...oh, what the hay.

Give me ten minutes and we could easily have a party of gargantuan proportions. The beer and Easy-Cheese will flow. Oh yes.

The "ff" stands for "Factsheet Five", the magazine I used to edit. There was an approved Guide Entry on it last week (http://www.h2g2.com/A245693), not that anyone noticed. Anyhow, I've had this nick online for, oh, close to 20 years now, so I'm not likely to change it any time soon.

I don't mind that people are having fun here. I do mind that some people's idea of fun is the online equivalent of turning the ghetto blaster up loud when other people are trying to have a serious discussion. Some day, I'll have the ability to just have postings from particular users sent to /dev/null, and I'l be happy.

Meantime, have fun with the beer & easy-cheese *shudder*. I'll have a cup of coffee & get back to work.
