Gnomon - time to move on

Any thoughts on how many people read The Post?

I don't read The Post, and I'm constantly trying to motivate myself to write something for it. I only agreed to write my column because B'Elana and Galaxy Babe talked nicely smiley - bigeyes to me.

Now that there are no deadlines, I keep putting it off. If I had some idea of how popular the Post is, it might encourage me, as at the moment I feel that more people would read my work if I posted it in my own Journal. I'd certainly get a better response there.

The simple answer is, I have no idea. We don't get stats on our pageviews, so I don't know any more than I know how many people read the average EG Entry.

When we ran the 42 Word Story competition last year, with very little fanfare, we had 18 (publishable) respondents. I think the number of readers for any given column is far more than any of us realise. I think that with a weekly cycle, we'll get more readers as well - most people comment on Post articles within the first three days of publication, which suggests most people who are going to read it will have done so by then, and it's an awful lot to read in just a few days.

There's no reason, of course, why you couldn't write the articles for The Post then mention them in your journal. Best of both worlds then smiley - smiley

You might want to read the editorial of this issue at least, if only to find out why your submission isn't in it smiley - winkeye

I didn't really expect it to be there at such short notice.
